FTS Indexing

we are on 9.3.1.1 and have tried running the FTS indexing several times - it seems to start running ok but then as it progresses it seems to hang up/stop indexing. We had approximately 160,000 attachments to index and it would usually do the first 20,000-30,000 ok but then hang for days and not index any additional documents. We've worked with oracle support on this as well but wondering if anyone else has run into similar issues or has any suggestions on what to try, what to look for etc
