Custom objects across two technology

Hello ,

Requirement is to develop a custom interactive application in JDE which fetches information from JDE and PEOPLESOFT HRMS which resides on same physical server.

How can we fetch information from two different systems and populate in a interactive application.

What is the best approach ?
