Failed to connect to database error

using hyperion financial reporting studio, version 11.11.2.230 , couple of our users with new installations getting the error: failed to connect to database server, when trying to open/modify a report. these users if login from another users can open/modify the reports.

we think there might be some problem with installation of hyperion financial reporting studio on their machines. but we don't know what is the probelm ? is it  usually just straight forward installation or do we need to take some configuration steps after installation?
