How to ship confirm an order line through API when the order has QTY > 1 and the revisions on the se

We're having a very hard time ship confirming orders through the API when a single order line has a QTY > 1 and the revisions on the serial numbers to be shipped aren't the same. If we have an order line with a multiple quantity and the revisions on the serials are the same there is no problem transacting through the API. If the revisions are different the ship confirm never completes for both serial numbers. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to work around this?
