M5000 USB Port

There is a USB port on the back of my M5000 that I have never used.  I am wondering if this is a standard USB port and if I plug a flash drive into it will I be able to access the data like I could from a CD or DVD.  Has anyone used the USB port on a M5000?  Just thought I would ask before I did something stupid.
