Grid Control is not use RMAN Catalog

I have a database on 5 node RAC and is registered in the rman catalog. I use rman catalog when taking database backup using shell scripts. I tried doing the same from grid control, but grid does not use RMAN CATALOG....uses control file instead. I have also setup recovery catalog settings for the same under Availability tab.
Any ideas?
