Can CU introduce a new Interconnect configuration (while still maintaining point-to-point connection

CU currently have 2 x M3000s configured as a 2 node Sun/Oracle Cluster using point-to-point interconnects. We now want to upgrade the 2 x M3000s to 2 x M4000s

The questions are:

1. Can CU introduce a new Interconnect configuration (while still maintaining point-to-point connections) which uses a Ethernet Junction (Switch) and a different IP range (Not default) ?
2. Do CU need to shutdown the cluster to do this ?
3.CU
was wondering if they can introduce a new Interconnect configuration (with the point-to-point config still running in parallel) and NOT have a cluster outage. CU have read several documents on this matter but none a clear on this matter. The point-to-point configuration will be removed once CU have the Switch configuration in place.

Howdy, Stranger!
