current status of serial number

Hi,

According to Inventory Receiving Processes for Serial Contolled Items white paper, it stated that the current status of a seial number could be either 1 (defined, but not used), 3 (resides in stores), 4 (issued out of stores), 5 (reside in intransit), 7 (resides in receiving), or 8 (resides in WIP).  At my company, I have seen few records that have current status of 6.  Can anyone advise what that means?
