Record Upate Question on the Salary Screen

Using Oracle R12  12.0.6

Has anyone encountered an issue while reviewing the salary screen, the prior records/changes and who last updated the record?  We are having an issue with how Oracle is reporting who and when update is made to a salary record.  For example we will see that a record indicates someone updated updated a record/salary in May 2010 however that person did not begin employment with us until December 2010.  So clearly that person could not have updated that record.  There is no error, just an observation.  Has anyone else noticed this or a similar issue?  Thanks!!
