11i to R12 upgrade and implementation of new modules in R12

Hi,

what are the best practices for upgrading from 11i to R12 and implementing new modules.

1. upgrade cycle to finish first and followed by new module implementation.

2. while upgrade is still in progress and start new module implementation simultaneously.

is the #2 possible?

If #2 is possible what are the procedures and best pracs to handle.
