Best method for database backups

 Hello everyone, I'm doing some research and I'm trying to determine the best methods for backing-up my database. I have read about RMAN as well as other utilities such as exporting the database and doing hot / cold backups. I would like to find out which is the preferred option of doing backups. Could one of these options be configured to backup DAC files as well?

The thing is this backup is to be used across multiples, so Server A would be backed-up and restored to Server B. I am therefore looking for the most efficient way of automating this process.
