BI Answers with JAVA BI Publisher APIs

I use the Java APIs to invoke BI Publisher.  The DocumentProcessor API  only takes an XML file as the data source input. Is there a way we can use BI Answers as a data source to invoke BI Publisher? I can do it from the stand-alone BI Pub frontend tool.  I want to replicate that with java code.
