Journal Purge: Purge Only 1 Year at a Time?

This is in regards to the Archive and Purge Journals form / request in R12 (12.0.6).

When I go to the Journals tab and check the Purge Journals checkbox, the form displays a From Period = OCT-92 (which is the 1st fiscal month of the 1st year in our Oracle calendar) and only allows me to select To Periods from '92, up to ADJ-92 (period 13 in our GL year 92).

I wanted to purge journals all the way through DEC-11.  Before attempting this purge, I permanently closed the DEC-11 GL period for the ledger, which permanently closed all periods from OCT-92 through DEC-11.

Why is the Journal Purge limiting me to purge 1 year (OCT-92 through ADJ-92)?
