Do I HAVE to upgrade to 64-bit word size?

We have been a 32-bit Oracle Database shop for quite some time, running on 32-bit RedHat Linux.  We are now building a RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 server running 64-bit so that we can use more than the 16GB limitation of x86 for RHEL 5.  Oracle doesn't support running 32-bit Database on 64-bit Linux OS.  So, I am needing to install the x86-64 version of Oracle (10.2, 11.1, etc.).

I have been doing a lot of research on this and see that it is fairly easy to migrate from 32-bit word size to 64-bit.  I see that I can take my RMAN backups from my 32-bit system and move them over and recover them on my 64-bit system.

Howdy, Stranger!
