Opportunity Close Date

Have any OnDemand users experienced a delay or lag time when updating the Close Date field on the Opportunity to be something other than the default value?  In our implementation we do not have forecasting turned on and we have renamed the field from Close Date to Due Date.  Thanks for any feedback you might have.
