Installing 7120 disk shelf expansion

 I did install a SAS HBA and connect the cables on  7120 to chain a expansion disk shelf. But how do I know the new disk are present? I read and follow the info present on the service manual and installation guide, but this info is little short, someone can point me out the procedure to install this expansion and recognize the new disks? thanks in advance.
