New Challenges Running Siebel On Modern Hardware With 32-Bit OS
We have seen a new issue running Siebel on new modern non VM hardware we had never seen before. On modern Intel hardware from vendors such as HP having 64 cores and 64 G of memory is very common. With this much hardware having OM MTS/Max Task settings of 50/50/5000 can easily fit on such powerful hardware.
A new problem however is very likely to surface. Even though the hardware can support 50 Siebel OM processes a 32-bit OS like Windows 2008 R1 can have difficulty supporting this many processes. The issue is the Windows kernel memory is limited to 2G or 1.5 * physical memory – whichever is smaller.
