Depreciation and asset cost balancing segment value relation?

Hi,

I set the asset cost account on one category and the balancing segment was 100.If i add an asset and the depreciation expense select with the balancing segment 101,the asset cost automaticaly create in balancing segment 101.What are the relation between asset cost balancing segment and depreciation expense balancing segment value?
