SLA Secondary/ALC Ledger Historic Upgrade failed - any help?

Ran the SLA Secondary/ALC Ledger Historic Upgrade (we are on 12.1.2) after creating secondary ledger. When I ran it in Validation mode is completed normal, but in Final mode it failed with:
Validation successful: end_date
Validation successful: ledger relationship
Validation successful: start date
Validation failed: There are valid accounting entries that have not been transferred to General Ledger. Please transfer these entries to GL before proceeding with Upgrade

Our data conversion level on the secondary ledgers is set to Subledger - we have not yet run Create Accounting for 2012 since we are setting up secondary ledgers. We have open AP and AR that are accounted so we are running the program to bring them in, but got this error.  Is this saying we should run Create Accounting before we run the SLA Historic upgrade for this combination of Primary/Secondary ledgers?
