MERGE Queue for Mass Addtion

Hi,

Can someone let know why the Merge Lines are created in Mass Addition Queue,when we try to interface a transaction like PO receipt of a depreciable item to FA?

The Post line in the queue becomes 'posted' on running the Mass Addition,so trying to understand the purpose of Merge Lines.
