Is signature necessary on a Purchase Order

What can we use instead of a a signature on purchase orders? We've been printing all of our purchase orders with a the same digitized signature, but the owner of that signature is retiring, and the position is not being replaced. Do we need to find a new signer, or can we put something else (what?) in the signature block of the PO?
