Running a big Excel file (8 MB) in BI Publisher

How big can an Oracle BI Publisher report be? My BI Publisher report is set up to run an Excel spreadsheet, which is 8 M big in size. When I click VIEW, I can see that it is processing but then it stops after a little while without returning anything. What is the problem and what should I do?
