Relationship between parallel_threads_per_cpu and AIX smt_threads

First off I want to say that the relationship I see between the oracle parameter PARALLEL_THREADS_PER_CPU and the AIX smt_threads is for the calculation made when AUTOMATIC_PARALLEL_TUNING is set to true.

We are looking at upgrading JDE and migrating from PowerPC_POWER6 to a POWER7 server. I am having a discussion with the UNIX admin regarding smt_threads being 2 for power6 and 4 for power7.
He is arguing a case for PARALLEL_THREADS_PER_CPU, currently 2, should be set to 4. I maintain there is no relevant reason to change this to match smt_threads in AIX because they are not related.
