Linked Row templates in a Book - FR 11.1.2.1

Has anyone found an issue with financial reporting that when creating a book of reports you cannot use reports that have been built with a linked row or comlumn template?

Our client has a lot of small companies that use slightly different rowsets for their income statement, but keep the same columns.  If we create a column template and link it to the reports then the reports will work correctly on an individual basis, and any changes made to the template are filtered into the other reports automatically.  However we canot then include these reports in a book as it generate the error; "Error executing the query".  If we unlink the template then the book runs normally, but changes to the template are not reflected in the reports.
