ASM storage layout, double striping (stripe on stripe)
Hi,
I can see similar topic has already been discussed but I still have some open questions so I'm opening that topic here.
There is a general recommendation by Oracle stating that double striping (once on ASM level and second time on storage level) is good from performance point of view. Also recommending stripe depth of size 1M (assuming ASM allocation unit is 1M and Oracle database multiblock read count is configured for 1M).
I also noticed some people mentioning that using several LUNs per ASM diskgroup (at least 4) is better than using single one.
Q1. So I wonder - if we have a single RAID 10 Array on storage level, would it make sense to split it into several LUNs?
