HRSSA workflow for promotions is giving commit error after approval...

HRSSA workflow for promotions is giving commit error after approval... upon entering the commit issue, looks like it is trying to send a notification to a role which it says is invalid .. the role is 'hr@mycompany.com'.. not able to replicate this.. but this error comes up quite often and when we force through the error notification, the wf progresses and closes itself out.. there seems to be a orphan related WF too attached to this.. not sure why this does not close out..??

 if anyone has encountered similar issue...Please provide inputs/solution to avoid this..
