RMAN recovery or copy to another server

Is there a menu or guide for RMAN out there I can read to get the cloning part concept and steps?

I know RMAN has been out there for a long time. But we always use other backup method. Now, we do have production database backup using RMAN. However, I have never done a database refresh using RMAN before. I want to copy the RMAN backup file of the production to the development server and maybe restore that or clone that so that the dev server can have the fresh data. I am not sure how to do it this way. Does anyone have the steps? The current backup is done with RMAN with the database not shuting down mode. If
