STANDARD_DEPR field in Depreciation table

 How is the STANDARD_DEPR field in the depreciation table populated?  
There are some scenarios where the DEPR  and STANDARD_DEPR fields vary in the depreciation table. I am trying to find out in what situation this occurs.
