Can you add non upload columns to Web ADI GL journal template ?

 We have a standard GL Journal ADI template - Line level shows Account Segments, Debit, Credit, Line Description.We have a requirement to include some non-upload columns containing data to assist user entry.
Is this possible ?
I've tried just inserting a new column but this seems to invalidate the template.

Thought I'd ask before continuing down a possible blind alley!
