Assets not creating in specific company but advancing next number

Hope someone can help me.

My business completed the upgrade from 8.12 to 9.0 back in September.

Users are trying to create assets in a specific company - which they do every day in the other many companies, my business has set up in JDE.  They use the copy function and get no messages.  They adjust the cost account and save the record.  Next number is displayed on ube line but no record is created.  We are able to use the copy function in a different company and it creates the record successfully, so I suspect there may be a setup issue with that specific company.
