FSG XML Basic Drilldown template

in General Ledger - EBS (MOSC) Question
I made a copy of this template so that I could make the drillable amounts appear in black rather then blue, and to take out the underlines from the amounts.  I created a new template and uploaded it.  When I run the 'Program - Publish FSG report' using my custom template, if I output to PDF, I see my changes.  If I output to excel, I don't see the changes (the amounts are still blue and underlined).  Does anyone know how to fix this?
