Email Center: I can send Emails (for example using the Create SR window) but not receive E-Mails

Hi,
I am setting up Email Center to interact with Service Modul. But I cannot activate the email account (Email Center Administration Resp--> Administration--> Email Center--> Summary) in order to receive E-Mails (but I can send E-Mails using the E-Mail Center!!!).

I always get the error message: "The account name you specified does not exist on the mail server or the password is incorrect" (cf Email_Center_Error.png)
The only Metlink Note regarding this error message (1302341.1) specifies four problems that I all checked - everything is as it schould be....

Can anyone give me a hint what else could cause the error?
