Database Install/Upgrade/Opatch (MOSC)

Upgrade/Replacement of RAC Cluster hardware/OS

I've been provisionally given a budget to replace the server hardware that I'm running a 2 node 11.1.0.7 RAC on, and I'm hoping for confirmation that what follows is a supported update path.

Current environment:
2x RHEL 4.8 servers.

1x NetApp Filer
with 3 NFS shares, being used for a
  1. shared oracle home and shared clusterware
  2. Data files
  3. Log files
Having 2 copies of the database on the filer at the same time isn't really an option, due to space limitations. The database is around a terabyte. New Oracle homes are viable.

That in mind, the following upgrade route was suggested to me:

  • Install OEL 5 on these new server
