Significance of Delivery_date in RK_ALLOCATIONS

I need to know what is the significance of the DELIVERY_DATE column in the RK_ALLOCATIONS table in SIM (13.0.X). I know that the table RK_ALLOCATIONS would contain any Warehouse to store inventory movement document and not just Allocations i.e. it would also contain Warehouse to Store transfers (correct me if I am wrong). The DELIVERY_DATE in case of Transfers is driven by the Delivery date in RMS transfer create form for only Transfers. But in case of Allocations, where does it gets its value from? What is the calculation? and does the Allocation Release_date has anything to do with the DELIVERY_DATE?
