Physical standby refresh

Hi,

We are upgrading our third party application from 3 versions below to latest version. In the process, we have to make table changes (addition and deletion of columns) and other database changes. We are testing this new version in Dev environment and eventually we will move it to Prod env.  We have a two node RAC prod environment with a physical standby database (single instance) in our Chicago DR site. This physical standby database gets  constantly updated from the RAC instances.  Since there are many database changes involved, I am concerned about physical standby database during production rollout.

My question is, during the production rollout, whether the database changes that we will do on RAC production database will get automatically populated to physical standby or not? Or Do I have to refresh the standby database with the latest primary database after upgrade. The primary db is about 600 GB and it takes long time to copy the backup files to DR site.

Howdy, Stranger!
