Query related to Database server consolidation

Hi,      We are getting a new project to do consolidation of Oracle DB servers to reduce the license cost.
   We are DBA and the application team is a different team.
    Related to performance, Can you share your ideas/experience about what details need to be collected in the existing servers before consolidation.
The basic aim is after consolidation, if application team says something is taking more time (simple sql, batch process, end user/application session etc.), then we should be in a position to check how much time it was taking before consolidation.
Already we have planned to create AWR baselines.
