Prevent deinstall utility from removing Oracle base directories

We are upgrading from 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3. With upgrades now being full releases, the old version has to be deinstalled even if you do an "In place" upgrade. The normal deinstall tool has the functionality to remove the Oracle base directories, such as /datafiles and /fast_recovery_area. Is there even the slightest possibility that this can happen during an "In place" upgrade?
