smpatch - download fails with HTTP Content-Length size cannot derive size of patch to create. Bug 70

We are having the same problem as in Bug 7095583 where smpatch failes with HTTP Content-Length size cannot derive size of patch to create.

This seems to have been open since 27 Sep 2011 and last updated on the 9th January 2012.

The workaround was to use wget to get all the files, but when trying to do that, half of the 90 patches downloaded we needed with the rest all being zero length ??

Is there an update on this Bug and anyone else having this problem ?

ALSO

It would be nice to be able to attach to someone elses Bug ID to keep track of status, and to highlight how many people are affected by a problem..
