ESS Electronic Signatures

We are looking at developing a front end ESS application rather than the one through JDE so the form flow is easier and more appealing.  Our front end will pull from the workfiles and then populate the F05420 and then we will build to the live tables as normal. 

The question we have is what makes up the electronic signature?  It looks like it is the Last name, First name and then 7-8 digits.  How are these digits created? Or does it matter?
