Why can’t I use the same Payroll ID in multiple JDE World payroll environments?
A: When Pre-Payroll Processing is run, a unique library is created for the Payroll ID used, which contains the payroll processing data pertaining that ID: PAYRLxxx (where xxx is the Payroll ID). The unique payroll libraries make it possible to run multiple payroll selections simultaneously, using different IDs.
Unique IDs must be used per payroll environment, as IBM will not allow multiple libraries with the same name, even if used in different environments, as the payroll environments are on the same IBM system.
Although it is strongly emphasized unique payroll IDs are used in each environment, if, for whatever reason, a payroll ID needs to be used in more than one environment, a valid workaround is to clear the payroll ID library before running Pre-Payroll, using the IBM command ‘CLRLIB PAYRLxxx’ (where xxx is the payroll ID) in the environment where the ID is intended to be used. This would need to be done each time the payroll ID is to be used, in each environment. It is not recommended to follow this workaround as a standard process.
