Purchasing Assignment Sets

Hi, a general question regarding assignment sets - do you really need them? if you have many of your procured parts with ASL's. Current config - use APS and some CP. Also use min-max and Kanbans. Maintain both ASL and Assignment set for same part. Both are collected by APS so not clear why or if both are needed. We use 11.5.10. We do not use the profile to autocreate sourcing rules but note that it updates both ASL and Assignment.
