List Creation Tips

Hi All,

     Can any one give the some key tips to keep in mind while creating lists for best performance. We have certain fields where the time taken to load is high, I have tried to use indexed fields but still would like to know if we have any other key areas to have in mind. All my lists are related to Service Request. 

In case some of you have the best tips, please do let me know. If its available in any other forum please do share the link as well.
