Shared Member entity

If you have a shared member entity, and you kick off a sequence calc at a parent level where this shared member rolls up into, will the shared member data be re-calculated within this hierachy or do you alway have to kick off a calc in the primary hierarchy in order for the full sequence to re-calculate the shared member ?
