Benefits of setting eProdCfgCacheFS

Hi All,
Is there any benefit in moving the eProdCfgCacheFS from its default location to a new one if we are not using Remote eConfigurator?

I understand that setting up the Remote eConfigurator will improve performance but in this case customer wants to understand if there is any benefit of having a file system specific for the eConfigurator when the eConfigurator is running in the AOM.
