Problem with autoconfig

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post. Anyway, I am very new to ebs and in fact I am still in training. I am facing some difficulties while trying to do autoconfig. I tried to login to the system as sysadmin, but when I typed the URL address, http://erpaddress.com:<port_number&gt; I am getting the page not found error. Not sure what might be the problem. I wonder if it's because the system is down. How do I check? If the system is down, show should I brought the application system back up? Thanks. The environment is r12 on linux.
