Shared_pool_memory problem

The server has 64Gb of RAM. The database was running fine for about 240 days and yesterday it ran out of shared pool with error ORA-04321. I restarted the database. And again today it ran out of shared pool. I increased the shared pool to 1GB today and restarted the server itself. I am wondering if anyone can point to why the shared pool run out. We have the same application deployed at many sites with similar memory configuration and we never encountered the shared pool issue. Thanks.
