What is the effect of creating legal entities after upgrade to 12.1.3?

We are in process of testing an upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3 and want to know what effect there may be on historical data of spliiting our one legal entity into multiple LE's to correspond with the company/balancing segment of our account number structure.
