replacing existsing server with new server

Hi,

The current siebel production servers need to be replaced with new hardware so what would be the best approach?.( Assume that there are 7 siebel servers, 1 gateway server and 1 web server. all of them need to be changed )
Option 1. Install siebel in new servers creating another new enterpirse server and install create siebel servers for the new enterprise server using new hardware. At the time of go live shutdown the existing environment?
Option 2: Intsall and create siebel servers on new hardware using existing siebel enterprise and gateway servers. later on replace the gateway server with new server?. in this option 2 approach, will the siebel server recognize the new gateway server?
