Subledger Type/Cost Object Type - Asset Identifier

Hi,
I tried to collect information in A/P about assets using both subledger and cost object fields. In Fixed Assets system, the primary number to identify assets
is Unit Number. When I collect information in A/P, in the G/L Distribution form, the system returns the Asset Number.
Is there any way I could collect the information I want, which is Unit Number?
