ORA-15177: cannot operate on system aliases (DBD ERROR: OCIStmtExecute)

Hi,
In our 11gr2-ASM (on Exadata) we have an empty directory. Usually when a directory is empty it's gone, but in this specific case it isn't:

ASMCMD> cd datafile
ASMCMD> ls -l
ASMCMD> cd ..
ASMCMD> rm DATAFILE
ORA-15032: not all alterations performed
ORA-15177: cannot operate on system aliases (DBD ERROR: OCIStmtExecute)

I read something with respect to this errormessage when removing files, but not with removing directories.
What can cause this? Or are we hitting a bug.
